POWERPRO TACKLES THE ICE FISHING REVOLUTION
IRVINE, Calif. — Available Winter 2009 – PowerPro has broken through the ice barrier with the development of PowerPro ICE Line. This microfilament line for ice fishing, braided with 100% Spectra fiber, absorbs almost no moisture and resists ice build-up. During the winter months, when the fish are running slow, ice fishing anglers now have line sensitive enough to allow them to feel even the slightest bites. PowerPro ICE is available in 5-, 8-, 10- and 15-pound test – equivalent to less than 1- to 4-pound diameter – in 50- and 100-yard spools. All line sizes come in either blue for use when fish are finicky, or yellow for extra visibility when anglers will often use a short fluorocarbon leader for a stealthy bait/lure presentation.
“For a while now, a wide selection of electronic gear has been available for pinpointing hotspots, but what good is it if your line becomes stiff and coiled up?” said Ted Sakai, Shimano’s product manager for PowerPro. “The sensitivity of our PowerPro ICE makes it vital for precision jigging of hard-mouthed, deep water fish.”
Sakai notes the line’s incredible sensitivity and awesome abrasion resistance means less lost lures and fish. Its versatility means exceptional lure control, low stretch, superior sensitivity, and quick solid hook-sets.

Tackle shops in key areas are featuring PowerPro ICE line and select sizes of Shimano spinning reels starting in December ’09 for the upcoming ice-fishing season.
